Anxiety/Stress
Is a natural response to pressure, and can cause feelings of fear or panic. Some physical symptoms of anxiety are, feeling tired or restless, feeling shaky, dizzy or sweating, often not able to concentrate on things, feeling your heart racing or getting short of breath. It can also cause headaches or tummy aches. When the anxious feelings start we can then avoid situations, people or places and this can really be difficult in our daily lives. Hypnotherapy helps reduce anxiety and the symptoms that come along with it allowing you to start getting back on track, it can work quite quickly usually 6-12 sessions.
Confidence building
We could all do with a bit more confidence, to help us in our careers, public speaking, around family and friends, to help us complete that project we have been working on, the list goes on, some people even suffer from impostor syndrome, where they don’t feel that what they have achieved in life is warranted. Hypnotherapy can help build that confidence and quiet quickly by lowering anxiety and bringing you into the intellectual mind to recognise that you can be that amazing confident person.
Low mood
Feelings of unhappiness, hopelessness, low self esteem and finding it difficult to enjoy things we used to, some physical symptoms are feeling tired, difficulty sleeping, various aches and pains and possible loss of appetite and sex drive. Hypnotherapy can help alongside psychotherapy by talking through feelings of unhappiness and finding the solution to reduce that unhappiness, it helps also by reducing stress, anxiety and sadness, therefore improving your mood.
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
Is when intrusive thoughts make it difficult to live in our daily life, the obsessive unwanted thoughts takes over and raise anxiety more, then the compulsion takes over into unwanted behaviors or rituals which gives temporary relief in that moment. Unfortunately it is short lived, as anxiety drives the behavior and the fear of something bad happening, this drives the OCD to continue. OCD can be crippling for many people and stops people living a normal life. Hypnotherapy helps break the cycle of OCD and behaviors, it helps to lower anxiety and build confidence so that the person can learn new ways of thinking about their situation and changing the behavior for the better.
Panic attacks
Are driven by anxiety, they can come on very suddenly and sometimes out of the blue, panic attacks can be scary and distressing. Physical symptoms of a panic attack are, sweating, chest pain, feeling sick, hot flushes, dizziness, feelings of dread, upset stomach and racing heart rate. Hypnotherapy can help with panic attacks by reducing anxiety and building confidence.
Phobia
Is an irrational fear of something, be it creepy crawlies, heights, flying, travelling, water or something else. It is driven by fear, our brain tells us this thing is scary so we avoid doing it or being around it, which then reinforces that feeling of phobia and the cycle will continue, it can get serious and stop us from doing things we would otherwise enjoy. Hypnotherapy used alongside psychotherapy can help reduce stress and anxiety by reframing those negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
Relaxation groups
Working in small groups of weekly sessions over 4 weeks. In the first session I explain how the brain works and why we feel the way we do at times, then we have a 30 minute relaxation session, this gives your mind the space it needs to just be calm and relax, I also reinforce confidence in these sessions while you are in trance. It’s cost effective and you can come with friends and family.
Sleeping difficulties
When we don’t sleep well it has a knock on affect on our daily lives, we find it difficult getting motivated for the day, our cognition suffers, we can become bad tempered and have a low mood. Whether you have difficulty getting to sleep, staying asleep or just waking during the night hypnotherapy can help you get your sleeping patterns sorted quite quickly.
Stopping smoking
This is done in one session lasting up to two hours, and has a high success rate, although you must really want to give up smoking, I cant “brain wash” you to stop smoking.
Weight management
We tend overeat or under eat because of stress, our primitive brain tells us that this is a good way to help regulate your emotions and even when you know that overeating or abstaining from food is not a good thing our brain keeps reinforcing that message to repeat that pattern of eating. Often this makes us feel worse about ourselves because we think that we should do better and sometimes we say some awful things to ourselves, making us feel even more stressed about the situation, and the cycle continues… Hypnotherapy can help with issues that make you over or under eat by dealing with the problem directly and making you feel better about yourself and building the confidence to break that cycle.
